1. Definition of Boron containing Ultra High Molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE): Boron-containing ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a new type of composite neutron absorption material, which is composed of boron carbide powder and lead powder uniformly stirred through high speed stirring, kneading, plasticizing and hot pressing. It is a new type of hard neutron absorbing material developed by China Institute of Engineering Physics. It has been used for neutron and γ -ray protection in scientific research and nuclear engineering construction. The physical and chemical properties, radiation resistance and neutron absorption effect of the product have been fully studied and have independent intellectual property rights. 2. Advantages of boron-containing polyethylene panels: Polyethylene is a hydrocarbon with high hydrogen content and good ability to attenuate fast neutrons. Boron absorbs thermal neutrons, and lead absorbs neutrons from γ radiation. Therefore, lead-boron polyethylene plates have fast neutron absorption. The comprehensive neutron absorption effect of thermal neutron and γ radiation. The popularization and application of boron-containing polyethylene plate is helpful to simplify the neutron absorption structure, to reduce the weight of neutron absorption screen and to reduce the absorbed neutron volume. The boron polyethylene plate has good engineering properties, good dimensional stability and satisfactory γ radiation resistance. The performance of absorbing thermal neutron, fast neutron and γ radiation is obviously superior to that of polyethylene when the temperature is 80 ~ 100 ℃. The results show that the boron-containing radiation-proof polyethylene plate can prevent the harm caused by nuclear radiation and neutron radiation to individuals and society. 3.
